New Chief Minister Election Today in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will hold the election for the new Chief Minister today. Four candidates are contesting for the position: PTI’s Sohail Afridi, JUI-F’s Maulana Lutfur Rehman, PML-N’s Sardar Shah Jahan Yousaf, and PPP’s Arbab Zark Khan.

The assembly has a total of 145 members, with the government holding 93 seats and the opposition 52. A candidate needs 73 votes to secure the Chief Minister’s position.

PTI has taken oath from its members to support Sohail Afridi, while opposition parties are in talks to field a joint candidate.

Yesterday, PTI KP President Junaid Akbar warned that anyone betraying the party’s nominee would face severe consequences.

It is also noteworthy that Governor Faisal Karim Kundi rejected former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation due to discrepancies in signatures and has summoned him to Governor House on October 15.
